We may be your Solicitors and Conveyancers, but the Coutts team are just like you. When we’re not working hard, we’re out and about in the world, just living. You know how it is?
We’re taking a page out of our little purple book and sharing it with you. Let’s get to know Alex Seath, Coutts Mallik Rees Solicitor.
Tell us the best thing about your job.
A lot of the time, people are coming to see us during really difficult and/or stressful periods of their lives. I like being able to help them to navigate through these difficult times and make the whole process easier for them – not to mention getting them a positive outcome!
Why did you become a solicitor?
I love words and language, and I love problem solving. Working with the law is a great way to use words to solve problems.
What’s the best thing about the Hunter region?
The wine! We are really lucky to have such an impressive wine region on our doorstep. Great wine and good food are only moments away.
When you’re not at work, what are you most likely to be up to?
Reading – I am a voracious reader and always have a book on the go. I also spend lots of time playing with my dogs, catching up on podcasts (Chat10Looks3 a particular favourite) and spending time with family and friends.
What’s the most important life lesson you’ve come across so far?
“Stress is caused by being here but wanting to be there." – Eckhart Tolle.
Share your top three business recommendations and why in the Hunter region.
Brokenwood Wines – you can find me working here on weekends! Great wines, fun service (no bias here) and they’re an institution in the Valley.
Mr O Kitchen Espresso Grocer – healthy, whole foods and they make a brilliant coffee. Located right on the main street in Cessnock, so nice and close to the office for midweek lunches.
Bistro Molines – lovely food, delicious alternative variety wines, and arguably the best view in the Hunter Valley.
